In New England, almost everyone opens their windows in the spring and the fall to bring in breezes and to air out the home.
Kitchen windows are opened to allow cooking smells and excess heat to escape and they tend to become covered in grease over time. Bathroom windows are opened to vent steam, and as they are, hair care products that are sprayed stick to the screen, then lint and other flying particles land on the sticky screen, causing it to become very gunked up.
